1. If winning $20 in Fandango Bucks to see The Hunger Games sounds like something you'd like (OF COURSE that's something you'd like!), click here to go to Jessie Humphries's blog, because she's doing a giveaway :)
2. We are moving...again. HAHAHA...HAHA...ha... *collapses*
Seriously, we just moved in December. I'm taking this MaRcH MaDnEsS thing to a whole new level, apparently. Anyway, The Husband and I are going to be saying goodbye to Connecticut and hello to Long Island where we grew up! It will be a fun adventure, I'm sure. I just have no idea how I'm going to keep up with my writing goals while packing and then moving. I think the answer is lots of caffeine and little to no sleep, which sounds so appealing, doesn't it?
3. Speaking of MaRcH MaDnEsS, I totally made my week 1 goal of 7,500 words! Woo! This week...um...not yet. Not YET, I say, because even though things are crayzay at the moment and I'm totally behind on word count and it's basically the end of the week, I'm going to seriously try to catch up! For realz. I promise. :) (I'm suddenly reminded of some of you who can write thousands of words in one day. TEACH ME YOUR SECRETS!)
4. OMG YOU GUYS,
*I could rip your heart out with my Vamp brutality* *Or maybe I'll confess my undying love for you* *But probably, I'll just smolder* |
How are you guys doing with your monthly goal if you have one? Do you watch The Vampire Diaries? (TELL me you do! Seriously. If you don't, then you need to start, STAT.) Is there one song that seems like it's made for your novel?
I don't watch the Vampire Diaries, but everyone tells me I should!! It's one of those shows that I'm so far behind on that I don't know whether to start because I feel like there goes like a week of my life that I would just be watching non-stop. (I totally have an obsessive gene or something).
ReplyDeleteOh mans, you should watch it! I know what you mean about wasting a whole week...but...it's worth it! :)
Deleteholy crap, I had never heard that song before and it's AMAZING! oh, I love the mood of it... there's something very kick ass about it! and funny thing, my post for tomorrow is about THE song for my character in my new WIP.. LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't watch the show. I know so many people that love it... BUT, if I start watching.. then it's one more show to take time away from writing and we can't have that! LOL
yikes, good luck with moving. I HATE moving. Will you guys be closer to family?
Isn't that song awesome? It totally creeped me out the first time I heard it, but then I just became obsessed after I realized it fit the mood of New Novel so perfectly. I can't wait to see what song you post tomorrow! So funny :)
DeleteUgh...I hear you on shows taking time away from writing. I really don't watch too much TV, but The Vampire Diaries is non-negotiable, heh.
And yes, we will be in the same TOWN as our families! :)
Long Island! That's where I grew up. I mostly don't miss it except for some people and the ocean. Good luck with it. Love Florence, she's great.
ReplyDeleteYou did?! Ha--small world! I'm definitely happy to have Robert Moses beach back.
DeleteCan't say I've watched Vampire Dairies. Not really into the vampire thing. The Walking Dead, however, I can sink my teeth into.
ReplyDeleteYou've been tagged for the Lucky 7 Meme. Details on my blog if you'd like to pass it on! :)
I don't know too many--er, any--guys that watch The Vampire Diaries, anyway. :)
DeleteYay, thanks for the tag!
I'm going to have to listen to that song when I get home. (Blocked at work).
ReplyDeleteI'm in revising mode right now...BUT, I did add 7,000 words to my work this weekend! So that was cool.
And boo about moving! There was one year where I moved three times. NEVER AGAIN! haha
Ugh I hate when work blocks websites. Definitely listen to it if you get a chance, it's one of my favorites!
Delete7,000 words is AWESOME! Man, that's my whole weekly goal that you did in two days, lol. Good luck with the revisions!
Isn't moving SO annoying? This is going to be the 6th time my husband and I have moved in our 3 years of marriage. I'm hoping it's the last one for a while, haha.
Nice job on your weekly goal! I've been in a writing slump and hoped some of your commenters had were selling some sort of magic word-writing pill I could take to up my word count too. Also, nothing like moving to up that word count.
ReplyDeleteHaha, wouldn't a word-writing pill be nice? I could definitely use one. Good luck getting out of your writing slump! I think it's that initial getting-started that's the most difficult--once you get going it tends to be easier to keep up.
DeleteGood luck with moving again! We've moved twice in the past 3 years and are looking to move again as early as next year. I know how stressful it can be.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Florence + the Machine is some good stuff. I totally have a whole list of songs related to my writing.
Thank you! It's exhausting, isn't it?
DeleteFlorence is one of my favorites! Music playlists are so helpful while writing :)
Congrats on hitting your weekly goals! I know you'll make this week's, too!
ReplyDeleteI don't necessarily have a song made for my WIP, but I do have two that are STRONGLY associated with. When I first started writing snippets of scenes for what would become WIP2, Snow Patrol's An Olive Grove Facing The Sea infested my waking moments for a full week. It's full of longing and nostalgia and a quiet resignation that spurred the initial inspiration for WIP2.
Then, Linkin Park's Wretches and Kings introductory lyrics captures a major overarching theme:
"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part; you can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop."
Happy writing to you!
Liza! I'll have to look up those songs! I love Snow Patrol and Linkin Park, but haven't heard either of those. OMG those lyrics...wow. Will definitely be looking that up :)
DeleteTechnically, they used a clip from Mario Salvo's The Bodies Upon the Gears protest speech at U Berkley in 1964...but their whole song revolves around that theme (of course)
